The four parts of the cost
- Licences: Odoo Community is free, Enterprise is paid per user per month
- Setup: configuring apps, users, taxes and workflows for your business
- Customization: extra fields, reports, approvals and integrations
- Training and support after go-live
Typical budgets
A small company with sales, inventory and invoicing usually needs a few weeks of setup. A mid-size business adding manufacturing, multi-company accounting or integrations needs a phased project of two to four months. The more you follow standard Odoo, the lower the cost.
How to keep the cost down
- Start with standard Odoo and change your process before changing the software
- Use ready-made apps instead of custom development where possible
- Clean your data before migration
- Go live in phases instead of all at once
Hidden costs to plan for
Hosting, upgrades to new Odoo versions, extra users as you grow and staff time for testing are often missed in the first budget. Ask your partner to include them in the proposal.
